THE CLIENT

Disney Consumer Products and Interactive is the business segment of The Walt Disney Company that brings stories and characters to life through innovative and engaging physical products and digital experiences.  Disney wanted to create a game based on its movie Big Hero 6, to be used for The Hour of Code, a global movement that encourages kids to learn programming.

THE challenge

Make coding fun, by interesting kids in a game that required—gasp—effort and patience to learn. Plus, most of the existing programming logic games had boring designs that were unappealing to our sophisticated youthful audience—like this:

Another Hour of Code game based in the Disney IP: "Disney Infinity".
THE SOLUTION

Redesign the UI/UX

Inspired by the graphics from the movie, we created an iconic language for the game’s user interface (UI).

Look and feel

Art quality is essential for Disney, so we created 2D and 3D character animations, as well as the familiar locations from the movie.

Intuitive to use

We designed a new system of commands and icons, then tested and re-tested with kids until it they found it easy and intuitive to use.

TESTIMONIAL

"The Amblagar team was great. They know their stuff and that really made the difference."
